Our privacy approach

Science Lesson Kit is built around data minimization. Students access the modern student-facing experience through teacher-generated links for the Interactive Activity, Vocabulary, or both. The soft-launch experience does not expose a modern Quiz resource.

This policy describes the launch configuration as it exists now. Future analytics, advertising, contact, or other data-handling features must be documented here before they are activated.

Information students are not asked to provide

The current public learning experience does not ask students for an account registration, student name, home address, phone number, date of birth, school name, student ID, photograph, precise location, payment information, password, or other login credentials.

The Contact / Request a Lesson page links to an email address; it does not include a form or collect messages through the site. Students should use an adult contact when a reply is needed.

Local browser storage

Science Lesson Kit may store the most recently opened lesson locally in the browser so a returning teacher can continue quickly. A legacy audience preference may also remain locally for backward compatibility, but it is not used to redirect canonical soft-launch lesson or Grade pages into a public Student Mode. These local values are not student accounts, quiz scores, or personal learning profiles.

A user can clear these local values by clearing site data in the browser. Removing them does not prevent access to the learning resources; it only removes the remembered lesson and legacy compatibility value.

Hosting and technical request data

Like most websites, Science Lesson Kit depends on hosting, network, and security infrastructure to deliver pages. Those systems may necessarily process technical request information such as an IP address, browser or user-agent information, requested URL, timestamps, and security or error logs. This is different from Science Lesson Kit intentionally creating a student account or learning profile.

We do not state that no technical data is ever processed. Production hosting settings and any material third-party processing will be reviewed again before public launch and when infrastructure changes.

Cookies and similar technologies

No advertising cookies are intentionally activated in the launch configuration. Google Analytics loads only when a measurement ID is configured for the active deployment. The recent-lesson and legacy compatibility values described above use local browser storage rather than an account.

If future analytics, consent-management, advertising, or other third-party tools store or access information on a device, this section will be updated to explain what is used, why it is used, and what choices or controls are available.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is configured to load only when an active deployment provides a measurement ID. When enabled, its intended purpose is to understand site use in aggregate — for example, which lessons and resources are useful — rather than to build personal learning profiles of children.

Before Google Analytics is enabled where consent is required, the actual configuration, privacy settings, regional consent requirements, retention settings, and policy language must be reviewed together.

Advertising / Google AdSense

Live advertising is not active at launch. Review and development builds can display ad-placement previews so layouts can be checked, while public Production hides those previews unless they are deliberately enabled. No real AdSense publisher ID, ad-slot ID, or ad-request script is connected.

Because Science Lesson Kit serves Grades 1–6 and includes children under 13, advertising must remain disabled until the real Google account and implementation have been reviewed for current age-treatment, child-directed-site, ad-personalization, regional consent, and privacy requirements. The code is configured to fail closed unless both advertising and a separate privacy-readiness flag are deliberately enabled.

Children's privacy

Science Lesson Kit is intended in part for elementary-age students. The site therefore uses a data-minimization approach and does not require children to provide personal information to access the main learning resources.

We do not claim legal certification or simply label the site “COPPA compliant” based on this policy alone. Any future analytics, advertising, consent, contact, or account feature must be reviewed and configured before activation so the code, user experience, and policy continue to match one another.

Data retention

Science Lesson Kit does not operate a user-account database, submitted-contact database, or live AdSense integration for this site. The recent-lesson shortcut and legacy compatibility value stay in the user's browser until they are replaced or the browser's site data is cleared.

Technical request or security logs handled by hosting infrastructure may follow the hosting provider's configuration and retention practices. Any future service that stores submitted or analytics data will require a documented retention approach before activation.

Third-party services and external links

Science Lesson Kit relies on website hosting and may link to outside websites. External sites have their own privacy practices. Future third-party services that materially affect privacy — including analytics, advertising, consent, or contact-processing tools — will be identified here when they are actually configured.

Privacy choices and controls

There is no advertising or analytics consent interface in the launch configuration. Google Analytics must remain disabled in regions where consent is required until an appropriate consent solution and updated policy language are in place. Users may clear the recent-lesson and legacy compatibility values through their browser's site-data controls.

Before services that require consent, regional handling, opt-out mechanisms, or a consent-management platform are turned on, the required controls will be implemented and documented here.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This policy will change when Science Lesson Kit's data practices change. Material changes will be reflected on this page before or when the related feature is activated.
