Before class

  • Choose two clear habitat scenes or safe observation areas.
  • Prepare picture, word, or mark recording options.
  • Define an outdoor boundary and review observation safety.
  • Open Teach Mode and Read Aloud.

Prior knowledge

  • Students recognize familiar plants and animals.

Vocabulary

habitat
A place where plants or animals live.
biodiversity
The variety of different kinds of living things in a place.
observe
To look closely and notice details.
record
A way to save what you observed using pictures, words, or marks.
compare
To look for ways things are alike or different.

Differentiation

  • Allow pointing, picture recording, oral answers, or a partner scribe.
